Film Diaries - Jan 19
This year I decided to start a film diary. All the photos in this diary have no editing whatsoever. I started it because I realised that whenever I took pictures with my digital camera I wasted a lot of time looking back and finding flaws in them. Shooting with film gives me immense freedom. Even though I don’t have a chance to review the pictures I take, I find they are still as beautiful. I hope you like them :)
Este ano decidi iniciar um diário fotográfico com fotografias analógicas. Todas elas não têm qualquer tipo de edição. Percebi que sempre que tirava fotografias com a minha câmera digital perdia muito tempo a revê-las e a encontrar nelas defeitos. Fotografar com rolo dá-me uma liberdade imensa. E ainda que eu não tenha oportunidade de rever as fotografias, elas acabam por sair tão ou mais perfeitas do que as digitais. Espero que gostem :)
This is Warren Mews. These well looked after mews in the middle of London are some of my favourite things about this city. / Esta fotografia foi tirada em Warren Mews. Mews são ruas onde antigos estábulos foram convertidos em casas e são uma das particularidades que fazem de Londres uma cidade tão especial.
I love that in London many cafes and pubs allow dogs. We love going for a walk to the park with them and then stopping in a little cozy café for some coffee. / Adoro que em Londres muitos cafés e pubs permitam a entrada a cães. Nós adoramos ir dar uma volta a pé até ao parque com eles e depois parar num cafezinho acolhedor para tomar um café.
This is my favorite bookstore in London, I can spend hours in here. / Esta é a minha livraria preferida em Londres, sou capaz de passar aqui horas.
A rare day of sunshine in January. This is the building we have lived in for the past three years, we are about to say goodbye to it. / Um dia raro de sol em pleno Janeiro. Esta foi a casa em que vivemos durante os último três anos e da qual estamos prestes a dizer adeus.

Chloe, my friend and my family away from home. She is about to move to Los Angeles, she has not yet left and I already miss her. / Chloe, minha amiga, irmã e família que eu escolhi. Ela está prestes a mudar-se para Los Angeles, ela ainda não partiu e eu já tenho saudades.

Martin making a silly face and Milo. Milo is our flat mate’s dog but, because he’s lived with us since he was a puppy, feels like he’s ours as well. We’ll miss him a lot when we move to our new flat. / O Martin a fazer cara de totó e o Milo. O Milo é o cão do nosso flat mate, mas no fundo é como se fosse nosso. Vai nos custar muito a ausência dele quando mudarmos de casa.

I’d love to be brave enough to ride a bike in London but the truth is that I'm too scared. Plus, Martin has had three bike accidents already which gives me even less confidence. Maybe when we move into the new house I’ll give it a go. / Eu gostava muito de ter coragem para andar de bicicleta em Londres mas a verdade é que tenho muito medo. Para além disso o Martin já teve três acidentes o que me dá ainda menos confiança. Talvez quando mudarmos para a casa nova me aventure.
I love seeing a house full of books. I'm not very careful with mine, I write in them and underline my favourite passages, in fact I even prefer when they look a bit rough. / Adoro ver uma casa cheia de livros. Eu não sou nada cuidadosa com os meus, escrevo neles, sublinho com caneta e na verdade até os prefiro quando os ganham aquele ar mais usado.
This is Tilly and her mum, Rachel (my flatmate’s girlfriend). This month my dear friend Dri and her family came to London and I had the opportunity to see them. Dri is the most relaxed mother I know and I will certainly ask for lots of advice when my turn comes around. / Este mês a minha querida amiga Dri e a sua família vieram a Londres e eu tive a oportunidade de matar saudades deles. A Dri é a mãe mais relaxada de sempre e a quem certamente irei pedir muitos conselhos quando a minha vez chegar.
Where I buy most of our veggies. When I can I prefer to support my local grocery shops, I particularly love this one because this is the only place in my neighbourhood where I can find the same sweet potatoes we eat in Portugal which, in my opinion, taste much better than the orange ones. / Onde eu compro a maior parte dos meus vegetais. Quando consigo prefiro apoiar o comércio local, eu gosto de vir aqui em particular porque é o único sítio no meu bairro que vende a mesma batata doce que se come em Portugal e que, na minha opinião, sabe muito melhor do que a laranja.
We’ve started packing for the move and Will found this American football gear. / Começámos a preparar a mudança e o Will encontrou este equipamento de futebol americano.
Quite a funny way to advertise Blackmirror’s new episode in which the viewer chooses its course. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it. / Achei piada a esta forma de publicitar o novo episódio de Blackmirror em que o espectador escolhe o final do mesmo. Se ainda não viste eu recomendo.
I love this picture. There haven’t been many sunny days, so when the sun shines I love to play with light. / Eu adoro esta foto. Não têm havido muitos dias de sol, mas quando os há fico logo inspirada para tirar fotografias.
This month Lucy turned 30 and her family prepared a surprise party for her. She works with Martin and also does illustrations, check her work here. /Este mês a Lucy fez 30 anos e a sua família preparou-lhe uma festa surpresa. Ela trabalha com o Martin e faz também ilustrações, espreita o trabalho dela aqui.

There are things I didn’t realise I miss until I came across its smell, roasted chestnuts are one of them. / Há coisas de que não nos apercebemos de que temos saudades até nos depararmos com o seu cheiro, castanhas assadas são umas dessas coisas.

The best moment this month was when I surprised my friend, Oxana Ianin, at her exhibition Pour Ma Sofie at Porto’s Biodiversity Gallery. This exhibition is very special because it brings together hundreds of books with inscriptions for Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, one of the most acclaimed Portuguese writers, found in her private library. "Admiration" was the most repeated word throughout these hundreds of books. / O melhor momento do mês foi surpreender a minha talentosa amiga, Oxana Ianin, na sua exposição Pour Ma Sofie em exibição na Galeria de Biodiversidade do Porto. Esta exposição é muito especial porque aglomera centenas de livros com dedicatórias a Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, uma das mais aclamadas escritoras portuguesas, encontrados na biblioteca privada da mesma. A palavra “admiração” foi a mais repetida ao longo dessas centenas de dedicatórias.
